WHO SAYS PLAYING VIDEO GAMES CAN'T SAVE THE WORLD?

Reflections

A Note From the Director - William McGuire
One of the best parts of leading a team is seeing how they grow and the amount of people that are impacted in a positive way from what the team accomplishes together. There are so many growth stories that I could share, but we'd be here all day. So with that said, the thing that impacted me the most was when Josh Saville, a freshman on our planning team, approached me after the competition was over and said these simple words,

"Thank you. I'm really glad I got to do this."

He said it so calmly and humbly that I realized what he meant was Will, I'm glad that I got to work with a team that did something that really impacted a lot of people. Hearing those words meant the world to me because those words meant that our team had made a difference in at least one life in a tremendous way and what's even better is that I know the team feels the same way.

A Note From the Local Sponsorship Coordinator - Sarah Trexler
"It was a great way for me to reach out to the Raleigh community; to let them know that they were not the only ones who cared about making a difference in their communities and the world. It was inspiring to me to see so many businesses and organizations get excited about what we are trying to accomplish, and giving us their full support. The tournament not only strengthen the bonds within our group, but also our bond with the surrounding area."

A Note From a "Whammy Bartender" - Tamara Robertson
"The Guitar Hero Competition was an amazing event. I worked the "Whammy Bar" making an assortment of rock star worthy beverages. To try to stay in spirit I dressed up as a Guitar Hero character which added a lot to the experience. I was able to advertise for the event by simply walking around campus and there were several other individuals who dressed up too. There was even a young boy who dressed up like ACDC, which I thought was awesome!"
